This was so beautiful! And much, much braver than essays about the usual 'brave' things to do.🩵

When I told my then girlfriend, that I 'almost cried' while watching Taare Zameen Par, she was puzzled. 'So why didn't you cry then?', she asked but I didn't have an answer. I learnt the word 'conditioning' years later. That's when I understood why I would hide in a bathroom or under a blanket to cry in peace during my teenage years.

Thank you for sharing your story, Sanket. And I fully agree with you - 'let it rain'.

This is for all the men I know and women too. I think crying is one of the most beautiful emotions and the most cathartic. Your words flow so beautifully Sanket. Thank you for writing this :)

Thank you for writing this for men, and yet there are many women like me who will resonate with this more than you can imagine. We are all eager to get hardened to prove our strength. Essays like these are crucial for our collective softening. ♥️

Thank you for creating space for this Raju Tai. Without you and Natasha and everyone in the workshop this piece would have died in my head 💜

Same! I still notice myself and many around me, hold ourselves back from wholesome crying :/ Many times my crying bouts are followed by a "sorry"!

It’s such a beautiful piece, Sanket. Thank you for writing this. As someone who wept often and hasn’t in over five years, the analogy resonates so much. Waiting for the revolution. 🤍🤗

Hey Sanket ! I'm relating so hard to this ...for a few years not only would tears get stuck but the stuck tears would judge the tears that were flowing for others ..and police them too. Tears held in corrode some of us a little and I'm so glad that the piece ends with flow !

Beautiful! Of all the things that I feel as a parent, what hurt most was watching my sensitive boy child become a man who hides his emotions. I hope he unlearns his conditioning some day

Storing up your tears like ammunition for the revolution… loved the analogy. And like all revolutions, your revolution was also brought in by the young :)
